The banality of a married life drives Gurmel to seek romance outside his marriage. Played by Gippy Grewal, it is not that Gurmel doesn’t care about his wife and five-year-old son. It is just the lack of fizz in his marriage, with his wife being absorbed in home chores and raising their son, that is making Gurmel itch to reignite passion in his life. Though this is yet another comedy, after a long time a film has come along that is using comedy to further the storyline rather than forcefully thrown in punches to qualify as a comedy. His portrayal of Gurmel is so realistic, that most married men, and their wives, will identify with him when he chases romance relentlessly and matches his chase with his smartened appearance. As Gurmel falls for the lure of variety and secrecy offered on social media, he begins ignoring his wife and son completely. Meanwhile, his wife, a simple Punjabi housewife from a village, begins to get suspicious of her husband’s newfound fixation with his phone all day and night long, goaded by her friend, Chindo. On Chindo’s persuasion, Beant, played by Tanu Grewal, also creates her fake identity on social media in a bid to make her husband jealous and beat him at his own game. Tanu is only two films old in the industry but has delivered her character with maturity in keeping with all shades of a dedicated, trusting housewife eager to fulfil her wifely duties to keep her husband happy.

The couple’s perfect secret goes awry when Gurmel, unable to contain his excitement at finding a new relationship, wants to take a step further than chatting on social media, and decides to meet a girl in real life. Incidentally, the girl happens to be his wife, Beant who was using a pseudonym to chat with him unaware of his real identity.

The comic timing in the film is impeccable and comes at just the right time, the credit for which goes to the director and script writer. Edited tightly, the film keeps audiences hooked to see how the couples’ secret would unfold, even though the plot is predictable. Karamjit Anmol, who essays the role of Gurmel’s friend Sema, who has shown him the path to social media, is strong in his portrayal and is not just a sidekick to the hero.

Though the film ends on an educative note for married couples, it is more inclined towards women, showing men the consequences of what could happen if they went astray in their marriage. A fun film, it leaves you lighter and happier with its punches and near perfect characterization.
